Wonderful Winter Walks

There’s something quite magical about a rural landscape glistening with a winter frost as the sun gently brings it back to life each day, and it’s a scene we’re lucky to see every day here on the Tylney Hall Estate.

Although we may be biased, we think there is something fantastic to see in every season throughout our 66 acres, so why not dig out your scarf, zip up your coats and get exploring? You can even slip inside for a hot toddy in one of our welcoming lounges afterwards too!

Get lost in the beauty of our grounds and discover the Italian Garden, laid out by Seldon Wornum at the turn of the century, with its feature restored fountain; the Water Gardens (My personal, favourite retreat), designed by Gertrude Jekyll based on a ground plan sent to her by Weir Schultz, with two water courses and a collection of smaller pools and waterfalls; a Victorian orchard, growing over 20 varieties of apples used in the hotel’s kitchen; and the Boathouse Lake, which originally provided the hotel with its main water supply and is now a wonderfully serene feature in the grounds.

Time your visit well and you may even catch the captivating sunset visible between the giant redwood and evergreen trees that stand proud surrounded by bare deciduous trees – a must-see for anyone staying with us.

We are so passionate about our guests making the most of our surroundings, they can pick up a complimentary pack of tried and tested walks and maps from reception at any time during their stay, meaning everyone from experienced ramblers to first-timers can get out and about here this winter.

Don’t miss our wonderful winter break offer available to book to book until 28 February 2017. The seasonal package includes a two-night stay, three-course dinner in the Oak Room Restaurant, breakfast on both mornings, complimentary jar of chutney and late check out of 12pm from £125 per person per night.
