Wildlife Wonders at Tylney Hall

Tylney Hall Hotel may be known for its elegant charm and historic grandeur, but venture into the gardens and you’ll discover a thriving world of wildlife, nestled quietly within the estate. Set within 66 acres of beautifully maintained grounds in the heart of Hampshire, our estate is a sanctuary not just for our guests, but for a wonderful array of animal visitors, many of whom have made Tylney their permanent home.

Wander down to our Water Gardens, and you’ll be greeted a buzz of life. Colourful koi fish glide beneath the lily pads, surfacing in the hope of a tasty treat. A supply of fish food is kept at reception, offering a hands on experience for guests. Just a sprinkle brings the fish up in playful ripples, a gentle reminder of the quieter lives that thrive here.

Not far from the Water Gardens, those staying in or passing by the Orangery Suites may find themselves being followed by the resident duck couple! These charming little characters have become local celebrities on the estate, happily waddling along the paths beside guests as if showing them the way. They’re especially active in the morning and late afternoon, and always seem to be in the mood for a social stroll!

Keep an eye on the flower beds as you explore, and you might spot some of our more elusive visitors. Rabbits are often seen hopping among the borders, especially between the Water Gardens, and if you're lucky (and quiet), you may even glimpse a fox slipping silently down the vista in the early morning or twilight hours. These shy yet beautiful creatures remind us how special it is to be surrounded by such unspoiled nature, even just steps from your suite.

As day breaks over the estate, you’ll be welcomed by a truly enchanting start to the morning, a symphony of birdsong echoing through the trees. From delicate warbles to bold, melodic calls, the dawn chorus at Tylney Hall is an experience in itself.

So on your next stay with us, take a breath, look around, and enjoy the company of our Tylney Hall wildlife friends, they’re just as much a part of the experience as the house itself.
